National Board Third Party Announcement

We’re writing to let you know that we’ve updated the information release questions in our candidate registration system. These questions allow the National Board to share your information with third-party organizations that fund or support candidates through the National Board Certification and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process. Specifically, we've added more detail and clarity about the exact information we share, and we’ve added a new question to assist organizations in their reporting, to facilitate a better understanding of the community they are funding and supporting.

Copies of the release questions are included below. These questions have been updated in our registration system; however, beginning May 8, 2024, a yes response will release additional information to third-party organizations. If you no longer want to share your information with third-party organizations please log in to your National Board account and change your response before that date.  To change your response, select My Profile from the left-hand navigation menu, then select Update Profile.

Release Question 1
To be eligible to receive funding, support, and rewards from third-party organizations, you must agree to the release of the following information from your National Board account to those organizations:

    • Personal Information: Name, candidate ID, email address, employment details (school, district, and state), and years of teaching experience.
    • Candidacy Information: Application status (whether registration fee was paid, amount, and date paid), certification details (certificate and specialty area, start and end cycles, retake attempts completed and remaining), component purchase details (whether component fee was paid, amount, and date paid; whether a purchased component was submitted); and certification status (certification issue and expiration dates). No scores will be released.

Do you authorize the National Board to release this information to third-party organizations? Note: If you wish to request funding from a third-party (external organization), you must select “yes.” (Note: Changes to this information will take twenty-four (24) hours to be reflected in the data provided to your third-party.)

Release Question 2
Do you authorize the National Board to release your ethnicity and gender to third-party organizations? The release of this information allows for continuous improvement in supports provided to candidates and will be released in a secure manner via the National Board’s Partner Portal. (Note: Changes to this information will take twenty-four (24) hours to be reflected in the data provided to your third-party.)

UNC Charlott has begun a National Board Support Group!

UNC Charlotte's National Board Support Cohort will meet three or four times throughout the academic year at strategically scheduled intervals to support teachers' developmental trajectories while they work through the process. Each of these cohort sessions will occur on Saturday at a to-be-determined location on the UNC Charlotte Main Campus. Teachers from all districts are welcome, whether seeking National Board Certification or already National Board Certified, and looking for leadership opportunities to support and connect with other teachers.

If you are interested, please complete this interest survey.
