Cabarrus County Schools has named Stacy Bowen its Exceptional Childrens Teacher of Excellence, recognizing her dedication to students with disabilities and her leadership among fellow educators. Bowen will be recognized at the 75th Annual NCDPI Conference on Exceptional Children on November 4.

Bowen, a teacher at Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School, begins with a belief in what each student can achieve. She builds strong relationships, sets high expectations and tailors instruction to help students make meaningful progress. She also helps students develop confidence, independence and a sense of belonging in their school community.

“Stacy sees the potential in every student and helps other educators see it, too,” said CCS Director of Exceptional Children Angela Fitzwater. “Her work makes a difference for students, families and colleagues across Cabarrus County Schools.”

Her approach combines compassion with instructional expertise. Bowen uses student data, classroom observations and collaboration with colleagues to understand individual needs and find effective ways to support learning.

Bowen’s influence reaches beyond her classroom. She has served as an Exceptional Children chair at multiple schools, mentored teachers, presented at New Employee Orientation and guided clinical and student teachers. Colleagues know her as someone who listens, takes initiative and works with others to solve challenges.

“Stacy brings both deep expertise and genuine care to her work,” said CCS Superintendent Dr. John Kopicki. “She sees what each student is capable of, finds ways to help them grow, and shares what she knows with fellow educators. That kind of leadership makes a difference far beyond one classroom.”

Bowen’s recognition reflects the care she brings to students and the expertise she shares with educators throughout CCS.
