Digital Citizenship
All Cabarrus County School students will actively participate in eight (8) comprehensive online lessons that teach students and staff how to be smart and stay safe in the digital world.
Lesson 1
Overview of Digital Citizenship
For younger students, the importance of being safe, responsible, and respectful. For older students, the importance of honesty, compassion, respect, responsibility, and courage.
Lesson 2
Cyberbullying
What it is, how to recognize it, how to respond when you see it, and what to do if you are ever the target of a cyberbully.
Lesson 3
Digital Footprint/Digital Reputation
How to actively manage your digital reputation instead of letting it manage you.
Lesson 4
Digital World Basics (Lower/Upper Elementary Only)
The importance of strong passwords and protecting yourself against online strangers.

Practicing good social media habits and role modeling responsible online behavior.

Media Literacy
How to access, analyze and evaluate information along with cautions for the new world of AI.

Privacy & Cyber Awareness

Age Appropriateness (Lower/Upper Elementary Only)
The reason for age restrictions and COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act).
