HRHS' Kim, WMES' Price named CCS APs of the Year

Peter Kim and Amanda Price received a Thursday surprise when they were named Cabarrus County Schools’ Assistant Principals of the Year.
Kim, assistant principal at Hickory Ridge High School, was named Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year. Price, assistant principal at Wolf Meadow Elementary School, was named Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year.
The honors recognize their work supporting teachers, strengthening instruction and helping students succeed.
“Peter and Amanda understand how much strong relationships matter in a school,” said Dr. Michael Williams, CCS Chief Human Resources Officer. “They support their teachers, keep students at the center of their decisions and help their schools move forward. We’re proud to recognize their leadership and the difference they make each day.”
Kim has served at Hickory Ridge since July 2022, working with teachers and department chairs to improve instruction, review student progress and guide professional development.
“I’m honored and humbled to receive this award,” Kim said. “It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our amazing team of teachers and staff at HRHS that has a true passion for serving students and this community. It is a privilege to serve the community of Harrisburg and be part of an amazing school system in Cabarrus County.”
Previously, Kim served as Career and Technical Education coordinator at Concord High School and coordinated the Academy of Health Sciences and Biotechnology at Northwest Cabarrus High School. His work connected students with career exploration, work-based learning and college readiness opportunities.He holds a master’s degree in school administration from UNC Charlotte and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Appalachian State University. He began his CCS career as a biology and AP Biology teacher at Northwest Cabarrus.
Price joined Wolf Meadow in 2025 after serving as assistant principal at Rocky River Elementary. She supports teachers through coaching and collaborative planning, helping them use student data to guide instruction and address individual learning needs.
“It is truly an honor to be selected as Assistant Principal of the Year for Cabarrus County Schools, said Price. “This recognition is especially meaningful to me because Cabarrus County is not only where I work, but also where I grew up, attended school, and am now raising my own children. I am incredibly proud to serve the students, families, and staff at Wolf Meadow Elementary School.
“Every day, we work together to ensure our students feel supported, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. I believe every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, and that begins with dedicated educators who believe in them and work hard to help them grow. I am grateful to work alongside such a hardworking staff and to be part of a district that has played such an important role in my life and continues to be a special place for my family.”
Price supports Wolf Meadow’s Advanced Teaching Roles initiative, works with teacher leaders to strengthen math instruction, and provides coaching for dual language teachers.
At Rocky River, she contributed to academic improvement efforts and built community partnerships supporting students and families. Earlier, she served as a lead teacher at W.M. Irvin Elementary, providing reading interventions and mentoring beginning teachers.
Price earned her master’s degree in school administration and bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UNC Charlotte. She was named a North Carolina Principal Fellow in 2021.
