CMS' Thompson named Assistant Principal of the Year

Concord Middle School Assistant Principal Micah Thompson has been named the 2025-26 Cabarrus County Schools Assistant Principal of the Year. The announcement was made last Friday at Concord Middle School by CCCS Deputy Superintendent Dr. John LeGrand, CCS Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Michael Williams, CCS Assistant Superintendent of Middle Schools Anna Blessington, and CMS Principal Dr. Adam Auerbach.
“I am deeply humbled and honored to receive this recognition,” said Thompson, who began her role at Concord Middle School in 2025. “Being named Cabarrus County Assistant Principal of the Year reflects the impact of the role models and leaders who have shaped my journey, the dedicated staff I have worked with over the years, and the students I have been honored to serve—who make this work meaningful every day.”
Thompson was joined for the announcement by her family and friends as well as CMS staff members following dismissal on the final day of the first semester.
Thompson began her teaching career in 2013 as a third-grade teacher at Irvin Elementary. She has spent the past six years in leadership as an assistant principal at C.C. Griffin STEM Middle School and J.N. Fries Magnet Middle School. Thompson holds both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Congratulations, Micah!
