WES' Pore named 2025 CCS EC Teacher of Excellence

Cabarrus County Schools is proud to announce that Mr. Willie Pore, an EC IMPACT teacher at Winecoff Elementary School, has been named the 2025 Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher of Excellence.
Mr. Pore serves students in grades 3–5 through the district’s EC IMPACT program, where he works primarily with young boys who struggle emotionally and behaviorally. Known for his calm presence and steady leadership, Mr. Pore never raises his voice. Instead, he leans on compassion, patience, and specialized training to de-escalate challenging situations, helping students feel safe, valued, and supported.
Colleagues describe Mr. Pore’s classroom as a place of hope and growth—tucked at the end of a hallway, yet shining brightly as a space where children are nurtured and empowered to thrive both academically and socially. Parents consistently praise his ability to build strong, trusting relationships with families, creating a true partnership for student success.
“Mr. Pore is a shining example of what it means to be a servant-leader in education,” said Dr. John Kopicki, Superintendent of Cabarrus County Schools. “His calm presence, unwavering dedication, and deep compassion not only changes the lives of his students but also inspires his colleagues and strengthens our entire school community. We are proud to honor him as the 2025 EC Teacher of Excellence.”
Beyond his classroom, Mr. Pore demonstrates exceptional leadership within the EC department at Winecoff. He supports fellow teachers by mentoring colleagues, guiding Individualized Education Plan (IEP) development, and ensuring compliance with state and federal standards. His innovative use of the Boys Town Curriculum—adapted to meet the unique needs of his students—has led to noticeable improvements in student behavior, resilience, and academic performance.
Mr. Pore shows up every day with unwavering dedication, giving his students his full attention, energy, and heart. His quiet strength, professionalism, and servant leadership have made a lasting impact at Winecoff Elementary and across the district.
Cabarrus County Schools congratulates Mr. Pore on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates the extraordinary difference he makes in the lives of his students, colleagues, and community.
