Personnel announcements

Superintendent Dr. John Kopicki has announced the following personnel appointments, which were approved by our Board of Education on Monday, June 30.
Anna Austin, assistant principal at Huntersville Elementary School (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools), has been named principal at Cox Mill Elementary School, replacing Danielle Baker, who has resigned due to a family relocation. Anna will begin her new role at Cox Mill Elementary upon her release from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
Anna began her education career in 2009 as an elementary school teacher with Kannapolis City Schools. She joined CCS in 2014 as a teacher and MTSS coach at Weddington Hills Elementary School and later began her administrative career as an assistant principal at W.R. Odell Elementary School, serving from 2021-24.
Anna holds a bachelor’s degree from Meredith College and a master's degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Orlando Robinson, principal at C.C. Griffin STEM Middle School, has been named principal at West Cabarrus High School, replacing Acquanetta Edmond, who has retired. Orlando will begin his new role at West Cabarrus on July 14th.
Prior to joining C.C. Griffin Middle in 2024, Orlando served as principal at West Charlotte High School, Northridge Middle School, and Reedy Creek Elementary School in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS). He was an assistant principal at Hopewell High School, Rocky River High School, and Francis Bradley Middle School in CMS.
Orlando holds a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He completed the Principal Executive Program at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and is completing his doctoral work at UNC Charlotte.
