The Cabarrus County Board of Education met on Monday, October 9, 2023, for a monthly business meeting.

Here is an update of recognitions and approved consent and action items from the meeting.

RECOGNITIONS

• Equitable Impact Through Education Awards for October were presented to the following students and staff members:
  • Pitts School Road Elementary School
    • Kenneth Albert – Student
    • Kamden O’Neal – Student
    • Whitney Carroll – Support Staff
    • Jennelle Patterson – Certified Staff
  • Central Cabarrus High School
    • Justin Rogers – Student
    • Mycah Smith – Student
    • Candi Mizzell – Support Staff
    • Robyn Walker – Certified Staff
• Hilbish Ford May Teacher of the Month for October
  • Tara Furr, French teacher, Mount Pleasant High School
• Great Wolf Lodge October Everyday Hero Award
  • Lesly Jones, Transportation Planner, CCS Transportation

CONSENT ITEMS

The Board voted to approve the following consent agenda items:

• Track resurfacing contract at Central Cabarrus High School with GeoSurfaces.
• Track resurfacing contract at Hickory Ridge High School with GeoSurfaces.

ACTION ITEMS

• The Board approved the Traditional and Early College academic calendars for the 2024-25 school year.
• The Board approved the HVAC equipment replacements for Concord High School and Weddington Hills Elementary School.
