Students zoned for Concord will attend AFJROTC at Mt. Pleasant
Students zoned for Cox Mill will attend AFJROTC at Northwest Cabarrus
Students zoned for Hickory Ridge will attend AFJROTC at J.M. Robinson
Core Components
AFJROTC includes three main areas:
- Aerospace Science (AS):
- Teaches history of aviation, space exploration, principles of flight, and military history
- Encourages interest in STEM and aerospace careers
- Leadership Education (LE):
- Covers leadership skills, communication, life skills, and citizenship.
- Includes instruction in drill and ceremonies, uniform wear, and customs and courtesies
- Wellness/Fitness:
- Promotes physical fitness through regular physical training (PT) sessions.
- Encourages healthy lifestyle habits
Uniforms and Ranks
- Cadets wear the Air Force-style uniform typically once a week.
- Anytime a student is wearing the AFJROTC uniform, they shall abide by all Air Force standards for correct uniform wear, proper grooming standards, and proper personal conduct
- On uniform days, students must wear the uniform for the entire day (exceptions made for shop, culinary, or PE classes)
- Students can earn ranks, awards, and ribbons based on merit, leadership, participation, and academic performance
- Ranks mirror Air Force enlisted and officer ranks, fostering discipline and goal-setting
Leadership and Teamwork
AFJROTC emphasizes:
- Leadership roles such as Flight Commander or Group Commander.
- Team participation through drill teams, color guard, academic bowl, and physical training competitions
Community and Service
Cadets take part in:
- Community service projects
- Various School events
- Local & National Competitions (Drill Team, Fancy Rifle, Saber, Color/Honor Guard, JLAB/Academic)
- Field trips to military bases, air shows, or STEM-related facilities
