Have an amazing year! A message from the Superintendent

Posted Date: 8/10/25 (6:00 PM)

Dear Cabarrus County Schools Family,

Tomorrow marks the first day of an exciting new school year, and I couldn’t be more proud to welcome our students, staff, and families back to our classrooms. The first day of school is always filled with energy, hope, and the promise of new opportunities—and this year is no exception.

Before the first bell rings tomorrow, I want to take a moment to thank the incredible people who have worked tirelessly all summer to make sure our schools are ready for success. Our maintenance and facilities crews have been repairing, cleaning, painting, and preparing every space so that our students have safe and welcoming environments to learn and grow. Our school staff—from administrators and teachers to instructional assistants, office staff, and cafeteria teams—have been planning, organizing, and preparing lessons and activities that will inspire curiosity and achievement.

And let’s not forget our bus drivers, who will be the very first smiling faces many of our students see tomorrow morning. You set the tone for their day with a warm greeting and a safe ride, and your role in our students’ success is invaluable.

This year, our theme—“Champions for Children’s Success”—reminds us that every role in Cabarrus County Schools has the power to shape a child’s future. Being a champion means showing up every day with dedication, compassion, and an unwavering belief in what our students can achieve. It means celebrating their victories, supporting them through challenges, and inspiring them to reach higher than they ever imagined. Whether in a classroom, behind the wheel of a bus, in an office, on a field, or in a cafeteria, each of us is a vital part of the team that ensures our students have the tools, guidance, and encouragement they need to succeed—not just in school, but in life.

Our families are essential partners in championing students. When schools and families work together, students thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally. Your encouragement, involvement, and support at home help reinforce the lessons learned in our classrooms and create a strong foundation for success. Whether it’s attending school events, reading together at night, asking about the day’s experiences, or simply offering a listening ear, the role you play in your child’s education is invaluable.

To our students—you are the reason we are here, and we are so excited to see you back in our classrooms. This year is a fresh start, a chance to set new goals, try new things, and show the world what you can do. Remember, every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a positive difference. We believe in you, we are here for you, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things you will accomplish.

I am grateful to every member of our Cabarrus County Schools family for the dedication, care, and heart you bring to our mission. Together, we are not just opening the doors to another school year—we are opening the doors to possibilities, dreams, and bright futures for every child.

Let’s make this year our best one yet. Welcome back!

Stay well,

Dr. John Kopicki
