We hope you've had a great week and have enjoyed your Friday! Welcome to this week's edition of The Friday Five. Please make sure to see important end-of-year information below, and have a great weekend!

#1 End-of-Year Information

Please see the reminders below as we prepare to wrap up the 2024-25 school year:
  1. Please check you child's lunch account and clear any outstanding balances that may have occurred.
  2. Please make sure all borrowed library books are returned to the library.
  3. Please check with teachers for any outstanding assignments that may be turned in before the end of the year.
  4. If you did not complete an electronic bus request form in ParentSquare in early April, please make sure you have contacted your school to complete a paper transportation request form for next school year.
  5. With the upcoming summer changeover from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus, it is important to notify your school's data manager of any changes to your contact information - phone numbers and/or emails. When students return in August, Infinite Campus will have replaced PowerSchool as our Student Information System for grades, class schedules, etc.

End-of-Year Timeline:
  • May 15 - High School exams and high school early dismissal at 11:30.
  • May 15 - Last day of school for early colleges and early college early dismissal.
  • May 16 - High School exams and high school early dismissal at 11:30.
  • May 17 - CKES and CECT graduation at WCHS.
  • May 19 - High School exams and high school early dismissal at 11:30.
  • May 20 - High School exams and high school early dismissal at 11:30.
  • May 21 - Last day of school. High school exam make-up day. All schools will dismiss early with Tier 1 at 11am, Tier 2 at noon, and Tier 3 at 1pm. For complete early dismissal schedule, please see www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/bellschedules
  • May 21 - Elementary School report cards.
  • May 21-23 - High School graduations at Cabarrus Arena.
  • June 5 - Middle and High School report cards.

#3 Things to know for Summer 2025

With summer just around the corner, please keep in mind the following summer 2025 information:

  • SUMMER HOURS: Cabarrus County Schools employees will again operate on a 10-hour day, 4-day work week summer schedule beginning on June 2nd. CCS facilities will be open M-Th each week from 7am-5pm. CCS will return to its normal five-day weeks on July 25th.

  • SUMMER DRIVER'S ED: CCS will offer the June driver's education session from June 9th-24th and the July session from July 10th-25th. Information about driver's education and registration can be found at https://www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/6923_3 . Registration for the summer sessions will open at 7:00 a.m. May 1st.

  • STEM CAMPS: Cabarrus County Schools will hold STEM camps this summer for rising 2-5 graders at PES, RBMES, WMIES, and CWES. Registration is limited to students enrolled in a CCS STEM school. Camp Times: 8:00 AM-12:00 PM, Cost: $150.00 a weekWho? , Rising 2nd-5th Graders at RBMES, PES, WMIES, and CWES, When: June 2-5 and June 16-19. Camp registration and payment will close on May 27th at 5 PM. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. We will confirm registration once we receive payment. #4 Notes & Reminders

1.HIGH SCHOOL EXAMS and EARLY DISMISSAL SCHEDULE: High School end-of-year exams will occur May 15-21.
  • High Schools only will dismiss at 11:30am on May 15, 16, 19, and 20. High Schools will dismiss at 11am on May 21.
  • All district schools will have early dismissal on Wednesday, May 21.
  • For May 21 dismissal times, please visit www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/bellschedules

2.NAACP SCHOLARSHIP: The Cabarrus County NAACP Branch 5369B provides educational opportunities to the youth in our communities. To improve educational funding for high school students who are interested in pursuing post-secondary education (i.e.: 2- or 4-year institutions, trade schools, etc.), the Cabarrus NAACP Branch has committed to providing scholarships to local high school seniors.

3.SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: The Gina Guthrie Scholarship Fund has started accepting applications for our Spring 2025 award for Cabarrus County, N.C. seniors.

Spring 2025 Parent Engagement Survey

This year's Parent Engagement Survey is available on the Engage with CCS webpage and will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Cabarrus County Schools is administering the survey and analyzing results. Reports will not identify individuals, and only overall data will be shown. No one in Cabarrus County Schools will know if you participated unless you identify yourself in the open-ended comments. If you have questions about this survey or your confidentiality, please contact Cabarrus County Schools at cabcoschools@cabarrus.k12.nc.us . This survey will close at 11:59 P.M. on May 9, 2025.

Upcoming Back-to-School vaccination clinics

Is your child a 6th, 11th grader or soon to be kindergartener who needs immunizations to comply with state law for next school year? If so, the Cabarrus Health Alliance is holding school immunization clinics on the following dates at our Kannapolis location to provide these vaccines.
  • May 21, 2025, 1-3:30 PM
  • June 11, 2025, 1-3:30 PM
  • June 25, 2025, 1-3:30 PM

Cost: Free for those 18 years and younger who are uninsured or have Medicaid. Cabarrus Health Alliance can file with most private insurances such as United Health Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Medcost, and Ambetter. Please call your insurance to make sure we are in network and to confirm benefit coverage.



Walk-ins welcome; appointments preferred.

This summer, we have a variety of options for you throughout the months of June and July with amazing weekly summer camps!! Students will have the opportunity to explore SparkNC Units that require a kit as well as units that require our high-tech computers in the SparkLab! Join us to explore the robots in the lab as well as drones, VR Headsets, game development and so much more!! Students will also have a chance to participate in Student Led Hackathons and Capstone Workshops!!

Safety Town for rising kindergarten is July 22, 23 at Rocky River Elementary

Safety Town is a cherished Concord tradition that provides rising kindergarteners with age-appropriate safety rule experiences in a fun and unique format. Police officers, firefighters, and volunteers from the Red Cross teach bus, gun, and fire safety, just to name a few. During this free half-day camp, League volunteers supervise the students as they rotate through each class.
