Health Science Career Pathways

Health Science Education is a comprehensive program of study that seeks to meet the present and predicted needs for health care workers.  It is a program that recruits qualified and motivated students and prepares them to pursue appropriate health careers.  With the growing need for more health care professionals, the coursework and pathways within this program are aligned to support students, as they move into a variety of jobs, within the health care industry.

Curriculum in the Health Science Education program incorporates advances in technology to help deliver a real-world health care experience.  Topics for instruction include ethics, professionalism, prevention (wellness), diagnostics, therapeutics, and rehabilitation.  Teaching and learning strategies integrate appropriate workplace skills that assist students with how to use resources and technologies related to health care.  Students learn how to function as effective members within a complex system.  They also learn how to access and use appropriate information and data in a medical setting.  Students completing a four-course concentration in the Health Sciences Pathway are prepared to enter the workforce or post-secondary education.

Career & Technical Education courses offered in Cabarrus County Schools are part of the pathways mentioned below.  More information about careers in Health Science Education can be found online at www.nccareers.org/careerguide.  Information about the 16 Career Clusters created by the US Department of Education can be found at https://careertech.org/career-clusters.
