Hello Odell Dragons and Dragon Families! I am Dr. Joy Bronkhorst (the students know me as Dr. Joy) and I am excited to continue serving the students at W.R. Odell Primary School as the School Psychologist. I am originally from western New York and I relocated to Charlotte about 19 years ago after tiring of too many snowy cold winters. After spending a few years here, I moved to the Pacific Northwest for my husband's job. Although we loved the beauty of Washington and Oregon, the rainy season was too long and dreary, so we eventually decided to move back to the sunny Carolinas!  I have a 12-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son. I graduated from Alfred University in NY with my Doctorate of Psychology in 2001. I have had the privilege of working in districts in Norristown, PA, Ithaca, NY, Battleground, WA, and Charlotte, NC.  This is my fifth year here in Cabarrus County Schools.  I enjoy working in a profession where I can support students, families, and educators in attaining social, emotional, educational, and behavioral goals!  I look forward to seeing the Odell Dragons again this year!
