Password Updates

New Password Requirements

As we increase our use of technology across the district, continuing to enhance the cybersecurity protection of our students and staff is a top priority. Passwords are considered one of the most significant risk factors in terms of security as they are vulnerable to attacks. Therefore, starting February 15th we will begin implementing new security measures for staff which will include changing staff email passwords every 90 days and other password requirements.

Please note, we are not requesting you to change your email password at this time unless your computer prompts you to do so.

When prompted every 90 days to change your password the new password must meet the following criteria:

· Passwords are case sensitive.

· Must be at least 8 characters long.

· Must not include part of your name or username.

· Must have at least 3 types of the following characters:

ü       English Uppercase (A-Z)

ü       English Lowercase (a-z)

ü       Number (0-9)

ü       Symbol (!, #, $, etc.)

· New password may not have been used the last 5 previous times.

Again, we are not requesting you to change your email password unless your computer prompts you to do so. Not all staff will be required to change their email password starting Feb. 15th but will be required to change it later when prompted. Following the initial password change, all staff will continue to be prompted and required to change their passwords every 90 days. This change does not apply to students.
