Congratulations to Concord High School Jobs for North Carolina's Graduates (JNCG) College & Career Specialist Josh Yow who has received the Jobs for America's Graduate (JAG) Peak Performer Award. The national award was a recognition of Mr. Yow's successful outcomes during the 2020-2021 school year although his students faced some of the highest barriers to success of any in the nation.
Of the 17 seniors Mr. Yow worked with during the school year, most of whom come from low-income or single-parent homes and must work to supplement their family’s income, all walked across the graduation stage. Despite the uncertainty of Covid-19 and difficulties navigating remote learning, the remaining students, high school juniors, also improved their grades and behavior dramatically with Mr. Yow’s support.
Josh Yow has been a part of the JNCG program for 4 years and expressed that most of his students need someone to "believe in them and give them the support they need.” Thank you, Mr. Yow, for inspiring and preparing Cabarrus County School students for a strong career path.
