Schools Receive Grant

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) has announced seven CCS schools are recipients of grants from the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) for the 2021-22 school year. Congratulations to: A.T. Allen, Beverly Hills, Rocky River, Winecoff, W.M. Irvin and Wolf Meadow Elementary Schools, and Royal Oaks School of the Arts.
The FFVP is a federally assisted program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture that provides free fresh fruits and vegetables to children at eligible elementary schools during the school day. The goal of the FFVP is to introduce children to fresh fruits and vegetables, to include new and different varieties, and to increase overall acceptance and consumption of fresh, unprocessed produce among children. The FFVP also encourages healthier school environments by promoting nutrition education.
