Hope Bovard Named Outstanding Student of the Year 01/28/2020
Hope Bovard, a Cabarrus Early College of Technology student has been named the 2019 William D. Weston Outstanding Student of the Year by the North Carolina Work-Based Learning Association.
The past summer Hope had the opportunity to participate in an internship at the North Carolina Hall of Fame as part of the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Work-Based Learning program. Hope was able to secure sponsorships with potential donors and provide Braille assistance, as she is blind.
Hope Bovard is described as an "amazing young lady with a bright future ahead," said Vance Fishback, Principal of Cabarrus Early College of Technology. He continued, "Her work ethic, perseverance, and just plain grit will help achieve any goal she sets. I hope this award shows that a person with a disability has strengths and can benefit a business if people are willing to look at what they can do instead of what they can’t."
