Students Participate in Chef Challenge Final 05/22/2019
Student teams from Cox Mill and Concord High Schools advanced through the preliminaries to compete in the 5th Annual Cabarrus Chef Challenge Finale on May 20th. The event was hosted by Cabarrus Health Alliance, North Carolina Research Campus, City of Kannapolis, and Standard Process Inc.
During the competition, teams went head-to-head to create a nutritious three-course menu that was presented to and scored by a five -udge panel. The judging panel was comprised of culinary instructors, chefs, and other prominent members of the community.
This event is the only youth cooking competition in the region, where students are allowed to use a restaurant to prepare their meals. Restaurant Forty-Six in Kannapolis served as the restaurant site. The winner of the competition will be given the opportunity to run the same restaurant for one night for friends and family on Monday, June 17th.
Not only is this competition exciting for the community, but it provides students with the opportunity to bridge the gap between the culinary classroom and the restaurant industry.
Congratulations to the Cox Mill High School Team, which won the Chef Challenge!
