MPMS and NCMS VEX Teams Attend Worlds
Mount Pleasant Middle and Northwest Cabarrus Middle School VEX teams represented Cabarrus County Schools at the VEX IQ World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky! Students competed with more than 400 other middle school teams from around the world.
This is the second consecutive year that the Mount Pleasant Middle RoboTigers have qualified for Worlds by winning the Teamwork Champion Award at the State Championship. Team B, consisting of Ella Barber, Tristan Clapp and Emma Grace Swinson, was able to be added to Mount Pleasant Middle's program because of a Girl Powered grant. Girl Powered is committed to showing how exciting it is to be involved with STEM, showcasing examples of how women are changing the world, providing tools for success, and enabling comfortable environments where all students confidence and abilities can flourish. Team B placed 70th in their Teamwork Challenge division and 296th in Skills Challenge.
Chase Robotics, a team from Northwest Cabarrus Middle School, set the bar for future teams from NCMS as the first team from the school to qualify for the world competition. The Chase Robotics team sponsors, Corning, Stewart-Haas Racing, Turner Orthodontics, NCMS Parent Teacher Student Organization, and NCMS Athletics, all stepped up on short notice to make the trip to VEX Worlds possible.
