Dey is District’s Top Speller Again

Dey is District’s Top Speller Again 01/10/2019

For the second consecutive year, Aarja Dey is once again the top speller in Cabarrus County Schools. Now a sixth-grader at Harris Road Middle School, she defended her title at the district spelling bee on Jan. 9th.

After 23 rounds, Aarja reclaimed the title by correctly spelling the championship word – superfluous. The runner-up for this year’s bee was Minah Koo, a fifth-grader at W.R. Odell Elementary School.

The top spellers from CCS elementary and middle schools competed for the title. Aarja will now compete in the regional bee in February.

Congratulations, Aarja and good luck!
