Personnel Announcement 11/07/2018
Cabarrus County Schools Superintendent Chris Lowder announced the following personnel appointment, which was approved by the Cabarrus County Board of Education at its Nov. 5th meeting.
Dane Hughes, director of information technology and facilities at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s (UNCC) College of Education, will join Cabarrus County Schools as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), reporting to Dr. Kelly Propst, assistant superintendent of auxiliary services.
Hughes has worked at UNCC since 1992 and held a number of positions, including research assistant for the Center for Business & Economic Research, lecturer for the Department of Management Information Systems and computing consultant for the Computing Services department.
He began working in his current role in 1996 and during that time has led the IT planning for the opening of the Charlotte Teacher Early College high school and the Niner University Elementary School, developed the technical infrastructure for the new College of Education building, and managed all hardware/software lifecycle and support for the college.
Hughes earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UNCC. He also is a graduate of Central Cabarrus High School.
This appointment is effective Dec. 3, 2018.
