Superintendent's Message
June 11, 2019

A Message from Dr. Chris Lowder, Superintendent 06/11/2019

Superintendent Lowder Summer break is close. There are only a few days left in the 2018-2019 school year.

It’s been another great year for Cabarrus County Schools with our students and staff excelling in the classroom and beyond. We’ve had athletic teams compete at the highest level of competition in the state. We’ve had students win local, state and regional competitions and even compete on the world stage. We’ve seen our teachers and staff members honored for their excellence and professional skills. I am proud of our students and staff. It is an honor to be a part of this school system.

Congratulations are in order for the winners of the 9th Annual Ellis Jewelers Future Designer Contest. Thanks to Dan Levinson and Ellis Jewelers for creating this terrific program that showcases our students’ talents. Students’ original designs were chosen, and Ellis Jewelers brought their designs to life. The winners are:
  • Alison Martinez-Cortes, Weddington Hills Elementary School
  • Sarah Noell, Harold E. Winkler Middle School
  • Valeria Castro, Northwest Cabarrus High School

Parents have a few more days to complete our Annual Parent Satisfaction Survey. The deadline has been extended to June 14th. Your feedback helps us improve, so I encourage you to take this opportunity to share your thoughts about critical issues such as academic preparation, student support, school operations and school safety.

I am excited to share that our School Nutrition Program will provide free lunches to children in our community again this summer. Sites will open on June 24th and continue through August 16th. Children age 18 and younger are eligible for the free meal – no ID or reservations are required. For a list of sites, visit www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/freesummermeals

Be sure to check out coverage of graduation ceremonies celebrating the Class of 2019 on June 14th and 15th. Visit our graduation website for all the details. Each ceremony will be streamed live, and our communications team once again will provide live coverage of each graduation ceremony on our social media sites with speech recaps and quotes, tweets, photos and videos. We hope you’ll join us – either in person or online.

I hope everyone has a fun, safe and enjoyable summer. We look forward to welcoming you back in August.

Sincerely,
Chris
Chris Lowder, Ed.D.
