A Message from Dr. Chris Lowder, Superintendent 02/06/2019

Superintendent Lowder
Congratulations to Weddington Hills Elementary School on its selection as a National Magnet School of Distinction. This designation is given by Magnet Schools of America, a national association for magnet and theme-based schools. You can learn more about the school's award here.

National School Counseling Week is this week. We are extremely fortunate in Cabarrus County Schools to have a cadre of professional and dedicated school counselors to support our students as they meet the challenges of the 21st century. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

Although the weather may not feel like it, we are still in the cold and flu season. Please make sure you are doing all that you can to stay healthy, but if you do get sick, be sure to follow the guidance of the health professionals at Cabarrus Health Alliance, which include frequent hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes and staying home when you are sick.

CCS offers students a variety of fine arts educational opportunities. We recently created a new section on our website where you can get information about upcoming fine arts performances and events, as well as see highlights of our talented students. I encourage you to visit our Fine Arts Focus page today.

Finally, I want to share a couple of important date reminders for you:
  • Feb. 7th – Report Cards available
  • Feb. 18th – Regular School Day – Make-up day for Dec. 11, 2018

Chris
