A Message from Dr. Chris Lowder, Superintendent 11/07/2018
It’s November, and the official season of giving is upon us. However, CCS students and staff do not need a particular month to serve the community. It happens every day in our district. Over the past few weeks, our schools have come together for the annual King of the Court event to support organizations in our community dedicated to helping those affected by breast cancer, to provide much-needed school supplies and everyday necessities to those affected by Hurricanes Florence and Michael, and to pack nutritious meals for the hungry in Haiti.
Our district staff just completed our annual United Way Employee Giving campaign. Each year, district employees donate to support the various United Way agencies – many of which are here in Cabarrus County and provide services to CCS students and families – and throughout our region. Over the past six years, our employees have donated more than $100,000 to United Way. As superintendent, I am proud of their generosity and grateful for their willingness to give.
The Student Realignment Committee continues its work with a Public Information Session on Nov. 7th at 5:30 p.m. at Jay M. Robinson High School. The session will be videotaped and shared on our district communications channels in the coming days, so if you aren’t able to attend the session, you will be able to watch the replay.
I want to congratulate the newly elected members of the Board of Education: Laura Blackwell, Carolyn Carpenter and Holly Grimsley. I also want to thank Board Members Vince Powell and Robert Kirk for their service to our school system.
In closing, please be mindful of these important dates on the district calendar:
- Nov. 12th – Veterans Day Holiday
- Nov. 21-23 – Thanksgiving Holidays
Chris Lowder, Ed.D.
