Congrats to Mrs. Wilson: March CTE Moving Futures Forward Award Winner!
CTE Moving Futures Forward Award for March 2019
Mrs. Kelly Wilson
Mrs. Wilson was awarded the CTE Moving Futures Forward Award because of her dedication to Health Occupations Students of America by bringing service learning to the health science content area through CCHS strong partnership with Community Bloodcenter of Carolinas. With this partnership, health science students and HOSA members market, plan and execute several successful blood drives per semester which expose students not only to clinical side of healthcare but health informatics and business aspects as well. In the 2018-2019 school year alone, she has in the hundreds of interest volunteers and actual donors. CCHS has a third blooddrive scheduled for April 2019. Ms. Wilson nominated a HOSA student for a newly recognized CTSO Ellis Jewelers Scholarship and the student will be recognized at the District CTE Awards in May as one of 5 winners in CCS. HOSA President Emily Pistone said, “Mrs. Wilson builds relationships with all of her students which is very important for aspiring health science leaders, she is very nurturing and knowledgeable of the healthcare field!” Ms. Wilson serves on various school committees within the school such as Professional Development to ensure teachers are reflective on their craft and have internal and external PD resources for growth.
