 A little about me...

My name is Maria Ielati.  I am so excited to be on the Third Grade team at Cabarrus County Virtual Academy again this year. This is my sixth year teaching in Cabarrus County.  Before coming to the Virtual Academy I taught at A.T. Allen Elementary in 3rd grade and Kindergarten. In 2016 I relocated from New York City with my husband and daughter, who is a fifth grader this year. She is also excited to be a Virtual Academy Hornet!  This will be my 21st year as a classroom teacher.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, as well as a Master’s Degree in Students with Disabilities.  I am also certified in ESL.  When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family, taking road trips and DIY projects.

Communicating with me...

Email is the best way to reach me.  My email is I will also set up a REMIND for all families.  This will make our communication easy!

I look forward to working with you and your child this year.  Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  You can email me at
