I am excited to be returning to Cox Mill High School for the 2018-2019 school year!  I have taught English language arts for 19 years.  When I am not chauffering my eleven-year-old son, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and yoga.  I hope that you will enjoy exploring the world through literature, composition, and film with me this semester!

Intervention is a set time between first and second period where students will meet with their classes on a rotating schedule in order for remediation or reinforcement of a skill inherent to that class. The time allotted for intervention is used at the discretion of the teacher and within the English department it will be used to focus on skills particular to that class.  This is not a study hall, nor is it a time to visit/complete work for their other classes.  It may be used to make up English assignments, quizzes, tests, etc at the discretion of each individual teacher.  If a student needs support in a particular area or has questions about a specific assignment/skill this can be an ideal time to seek support from the teacher and/or classmates. Students are expected to maintain the same focus and behavior as “regular” class time.

Parents, please make sure that you know your student's Powerschool account information so you can monitor his/her grade and progress online.  If you need that information, please visit the school's main page, visit the  "Resources" tab and scroll down to "Powerschool Information."
 
Also, to become an observer on your child's Canvas account, you will need to:
  1. Visit the following website: cabarrus.instructure.com/login/canvas
  2. On this page, you should see the box below. Click on “Click Here For an Account”
  3. The following information box will appear: Your name, Your email, Child's username, Child's password. Complete the information in the box. The child’s username and password will be their student ID number.
