    Mission Statement
     
    The athletic program at Mount Pleasant Middle School strives to promote healthy competition and to embody the highest ideals of sportsmanship and respect. Students are encouraged to strive to compete at the highest level their ability and performance will allow. We meet the challenges of our athletic philosophy by cultivating the following values:
    • Commitment to achieving individual and team goals
    • Commitment to diligent preparation, fair play and self discipline     
    • Commitment to exercise and competition which contributes to the development of athlete's physical, mental and emotional well-being 
    • Commitment to age and school appropriate coaching and competition   
     
     

    Paperwork Requirements
     

    Do not turn paperwork into the front office.  Please have your child turn-in all paperwork to Ms. Smolick in her classroom.

    The athletic participation packet (see below) MUST be filled out completely prior to trying out for any team or participating in any offered out of season skill development at Mount Pleasant Middle School.  This must be done prior to the start of try outs or any skill developments.  Incomplete packets will not be accepted as all paperwork needs to be turned in at the same time.  Do NOT turn-in paperwork to the head coach of the athletic team.  

     Students who have previously tried out or played for a team at Mount Pleasant Middle during the '17-'18 school year DO NOT have to turn in a new packet.  Please communicate to the coach of the next sport your child is trying out for their desire to try out for that sport.  However, physicals MUST still be good (within the last 365 days) for them to tryout.

     Eligibility Standards

    All students trying out must meet eligibility standards to participate in middle school athletics. Students must have passed at least three out of four core classes the PREVIOUS semester (not year) to be eligible for athletic participation. Students must also have met attendance, age and promotion standards. This is a North Carolina Department of Public Instruction rule. If you have any questions concerning your child, please contact the Athletic Director.

    Admission Prices for Athletic Events

    Adults:  $4.00 Students: $2.00  

    *Passes issued by the South Piedmont (HS) Conference will not be accepted at Mount Pleasant Middle.  Passes accepted include the "Gold Card", Valid N.C. Coaches Association Passes, Valid Cabarrus County School Employee ID's, and any Valid NCHSAA issued pass.  Each of these passes will only admit an (1) individual to the athletic contest, not multiple people.

This service will allow weather related information including cancellations and reschedulings to be communicated in a quick, efficient manner.     MPMS Athletic Sponsorship

    The Mt. Pleasant Middle School Athletic Department is excited about the rapidly approaching 2017-2018 school year.  With the beginning of a new season we want to provide you with a special opportunity - the opportunity for your local business to support your Mt. Pleasant Middle School Tigers by advertising at our many sporting events. By sponsoring our athletes and our athletic events, you will receive advertisement through announcements, banners, and programs.

     The benefits of your $250 donation include:

    1.      Seasonal banner advertisement on the football field (August-October), Gymnasium (November-March), and baseball field (March-May).

    2.      Public address of appreciation and recognition during home football games.

    3.      Your business will be included in our printed football program.

    4.      Two season passes to all Mt. Pleasant Middle School home athletic events.

    5.      A receipt of donation for tax purposes provided.

    To become a sponsor, simply return the attached form and payment (Cash or Check made payable to MPMS Athletic Department) by mail or in person by August 30, 2017.  Thank you in advance for your contribution and support of our program.  Without our community, many of Mt.
