Mrs. Stacey Horning

Hello!! My name is Mrs. Horning and I am the Art teacher here at Pitts School Road Elementary. I am very excited to be a part of such an awesome school family and look forward to a fun, creative and successful school year. This is my 15th year of teaching public school art. I taught 2 years with Lenoir County Schools, 12 years for CMS and 1 with Cabarrus County Schools.  I attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC and graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. I have a BA degree in Studio Arts, which means I'm trained and educated in all the processess of art.

I currently live in Cornelius, N.C. with my husband and two rescue pit bulls named Remy(girl) and Rufus(boy). Remy is the absolute sweetest dog I've ever had;she has to sit beside me no matter where I am. I grew up in eastern N.C. in a town called Kinston. It was a very small and quiet town; home of the Kinston Indians! I have 4 adult children. My youngest daughter is in her first year of college at NCSU;she's studying Graphic Design. Would you believe that I have twin daughters too?! Well I do; their names are Alexandra and Victoria. They attend Campbell University and are in their senior year of college. My oldest child, Zachary, is in the Air Force stationed in London. He's married to Alyssa and they gave me my very first (and only) grandchild- Lilian Michelle. Lastly, I'd like to share with you that I am also half french. My mother was born in France and married my father, who was an American soldier. I've been to France many times to visit family and have been lucky enough to experience their wonderful art culture. I was able to enrich my professional art knowledge with trips to the Louvre, Versailles and Musee d'Orsay. I found myself overwhelmed with thousands of famous paintings to see in the Louvre, including the most famous and priceless  of all, the "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo DaVinci. It was truly amazing to see!

In closing, I am looking so forward to a successful year in Art and getting to know all of you. Please stop by anytime to see all the many artists at work and all of the masterpieces they've created!

Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to share a part of my story!

Sincerely,

Stacey Horning
