Mr. Daniel Maxwell

Welcome to my webpage!

I am a National Board Certified Teacher who teaches AP European History and American History and serves as an Advisor for Central's Peer Mentor Partnership with AT Allen Elementary.  In addition to being a proud member of the Viking family, I also serve as an Adjunct Professor with the UNC Charlotte Cato College of Education where I completed both my undergraduate and graduate studies.  As an educator, my goal is to create personal and authentic learning experiences that provide each of my students with the tools necessary to analyze the world around them and set and reach their personal goals.  When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my wife Carrie and our dog Rafael, traveling, playing golf, and hanging out with family and friends.  Go Niners! Go Vikings!

Information for Mr. Maxwell's Courses

Parents and students, you can find course information by selecting your course title (American History II or AP European History) in the tabs on the left margin, then viewing the Course Syllabus file.  Parents, upon review of your students course syllabus, please complete this brief survey to provide Mr. Maxwell with important contact information prior to the semester.

2021/2022 Course Information

Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) used by Cabarrus County Schools.  I use Canvas extensively to create courses where all materials are readily accessible to all students.  Moreover, Canvas will be the location where all course communication is delivered through Canvas Announcements.  Canvas is similar to many other LMS's (Moodle, Blackboard, etc.) used in colleges around the nation to improve organization and provide students with electronic access to instructional resources.  Instructions for parent and student access to Canvas can be found below.

Students - Go to https://cabarrus.instructure.com and enter your school computer username and password (click Login)

Parents - You are free to observe your student in Canvas throughout the semester.  To enroll as an observer, refer to the Document Tab (Left Side of Page) and download the Canvas Instructions for Parents File.

Important Canvas Note - While Canvas does store and show grades, it does not show every grade that students receive.  PowerSchool should still be monitored to view student grades.

STUDENTS: You should be checking your Cabarrus County Schools Email AND Canvas daily, and any Canvas Announcements will also forward to your school email account if your notifications are on.  If you have a smartphone, consider downloading the Canvas (for students) App and turning your Notifications on - this will ensure you instantly see any course announcements.  Information for turning on Canvas Notifications can be found in the Course Welcome Video posted in your course Canvas page.
