Dr. Rebecca Kavel

Hello friends, colleagues, and familes,

My name is Rebecca Kavel and I am excited to be at Bethel Elementary! A little about me: I have been married to my husband Chris for twenty two fabulous years and we have a beautiful daugher, Jenna, who is a freshman at ECU this year. She is my heart and you might hear me brag about her (or share a funny story) often! I am also a proud alumnus of UNC-Charlotte- Go Niners ! I have been in education for over 20 years and have had many different positions.  I have my Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education, K-6, an Masters's of Education in Reading and Literacy with a K-12 reading license and a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have  worked in Charlotte Mecklenburg  schools for over 18 years and joined Cabarrus county in 2015. I have been a classroom teacher in elementary grades, a literacy facilitator and a title 1 Reading Teacher in Charlotte NC. I have taught third grade in Cabarrus county for two years, and served as MCL (multi -class leader).  Currently I am a lead interventionist at Bethel Elementary and I am also an instructor (part time) at UNC- Charlotte.  I enjoy writing, educational research and I love presenting and attending at national and state conferences.  There is always knowledge to share and gain!

I am so excited to be part of Bethel Elementary and the amazing team of  teachers as we embark on an awesome school year. As you may have guessed by my experience, I love teaching, supporting teachers and watching students exceed their potential through engaging lessons, activities and strategies.   I look forward to getting to know each of you and your children this year as we learn, grow, and achieve together at Bethel! Please check out my resources on the weblinks portion of my page and let me know if I can help you. The very best way to contact me is through email communication.
