Miss Emily Herring
Hello and welcome to my page!
My name is Emily Herring, and I am a 2nd Grade Math teacher here at Odell. The 2017-2018 school year is my third as a teacher at Odell, and I could not be happier to be here! I taught Kindergarten the past two years, but am really looking forward to the change. Before teaching, I had several years of experiences in various child care centers, as a babysitter, and summer camp counselor/director. Additionally, I nanny for a Charlotte family with a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old on the weekends.
I moved to Concord, North Carolina from Indiana, Pennsylvania in August of 2015. I attended Slippery Rock University where I completed a double major in Early Childhood and Special Education. I also minored in Spanish, and spent some time student teaching in Mexico City, Mexico. The rest of my student teaching experience was spent in New Castle Area School District in Pennsylvania, where I was in a K-2 Learning Support room for six weeks and a First Grade classroom for 6 weeks.
Currently, I am pursuing my Master of Education in Environmental Education and Master of Science in Park and Resource Management. Upon graduating, I hope to be able to assist schools such as Odell with incorporating environmental aspects into their curriculum.
I now live in Huntersville and spend most of my time exercising, cooking, hanging out with friends, and taking care of my puppy, Atlas!
Some of my favorite things:
Food: Pizza, Cookies, and anything Mexican
Store: Barnes & Noble
Hobbies: Hiking, playing/watching sports, traveling
Sports Teams: Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Penguins
Animal: Birds, Dogs
