Mrs. Jessa Redner

I would like to take a moment and introduce myself. My name is Jessa Redner. I teach Principles of Family and Human Services, Foods I, as well as Apparel I & II courses. I live in Harrisburg with my husband and our two boys. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland and Master’s Degree in Health Education from East Carolina University. I am certified to teach Health & PE K-12 as well as Family Consumer Science 7-12.

I have been teaching for 14 years. I began my career in CMS at Independence High school teaching and coaching. I then spent two years at Jay M. Robinson High school, in Cabarrus County, where I taught Health, PE, and Fitness classes, and was also the head Soccer Coach. In 2005, I took a one year leave of absence to stay home with my first son. When I decided to return to my profession I took a position in Charlotte Mecklenburg schools in an elementary school teaching Physical Education for 6 years. After having our second child, I took another leave for two years to become a stay at home mom.  In 2014 I took the  Family and Consumer Science position at HRHS to teach Family and Consumer Science classes.

Family and Consumer Science is the art of teaching career planning, job skills, resource management, time management, nutrition, food preparation, menu planning, parenting, substance abuse, child care and development, healthy living, clothing and textiles, consumer education, money management, decision making, problem solving, human relationships, family development and anything else that touches the home and heart.
