• Welcome to the Beverly Hills Elementary Parent Curriculum webpage.  This page is intended to provide parents with a  basic understanding of the workshop instructional model and link parents with district curriculum resources.  Thank you for visiting!
    Math Workshop
Math Workshop is a daily experience where children are introduced to or review a math concept during a mini lesson and are then allowed to work independently, with a partner, or in a small group using manipulatives, technology, and tasks with varying levels of teacher support to discover how to solve real life problems related to the concept.  They are then allowed to share with each other the different strategies used for problem solving.  In addition to Math Workshop, our students spend approximately ten minutes learning and sharing strategies for mental math computation.
    Reading Workshop
Reading Workshop provides students with a supportive environment that involves them in authentic reading experiences that focus on their individual strengths and needs.  Students are introduced to a reading skill or concept during a mini lesson.  They then apply the skill or concept in a guided group, independently in a leveled text, or while conferring with the teacher.  The workshop concludes with students sharing their learning with classmates to build common understanding.
