Degrees and Certifications:
RN, BSN, Public Health Nurse II Nationally Certified School Nurse
Hi there! Here's a little about me as a nurse: I graduated from Mercy School of Nursing, after receiving a BA in Psychology at UNC Charlotte, and later completed my BS in Nursing at UNC Charlotte. I am also a Nationally Certified School Nurse. This is my twelfth year overall as a school nurse, with two years at Odell Elementry while Royal Oaks was being rebuilt and transformed into a School of the Arts. Before that, I worked in a hospital, and a pediatrician’s office. I love the school environment and have a passion for public health as well as children. I like to teach healthy habits, safety and handwashing. I believe attendance is important, and if there is no fever or other symptom, I encourage my young patients to do the best they can in class instead of running home. Many minor discomforts can be relieved with a brief rest, eating lunch, drinking some water or using the bathroom! So we try those first. We have such a wonderful arts program at Royal Oaks, and I don't want anyone to miss it! Your children are amazing and I’m glad to be a part of their day.
Office hours: 8:00 until 3:00 daily
I love being your nurse!
About me:I grew up in Waxhaw, NC, and have lived in Kannapolis for 19 years. My daughter, Anna, is in the 12th grade, and my son, Logan, is in 4th grade. We stay busy with work and our kids' activities, but when I have time, I spend it reading books! You can go so many places in the world and learn so much, without leaving home! I also enjoy watching movies, cooking & baking. When we do leave home, "The Beach" is my favorite place. I'm not particular about which beach, as long as there's sand and water! I've been to beaches in both Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida so far.
