    1.  If my child is in the hospital, do they still have to make-up time?

YES- Any seat time, over 8 absences per period, must be recovered regardless of the reason.

    2.  If my child is suspended, do they still have to make-up time?

YES-  Any seat time, over 8 absences per period, must be recovered regardless of the reason.

    3.  If my child brought in extensive documentation (doctor's notes), are they still required to make-up time?

YES-  Any seat time, over 8 absences per period, must be recovered regardless of the reason.

    4.  Is documentation (doctor's notes, hospital forms, etc.) necessary?

YES- If a student goes over 8 absences and completes their make-up time, documentation is necessary to receive credit.

    5.  How does my child know that they have recovery (make-up) time?

Students who over 8 absences in any class are given a postcard informing them that they are in Attendance Violation.  A postcard is also mailed to the students home.  Each teacher in the school also has an updated list of students who need make-up time along with their hours.  Finally, a list is also posted in the cafeteria.

    6.  What is recovery time?  What is expected of my child?

Recovery time is a 2 hour (4 hour if on Saturday) study hall in which students are required to attend, in an attempt to earn back their seat time.  Students are also required to get classwork from their teachers and work continuously for the entire recovery time session.  Cell phones are NOT permitted and dress code is enforced.

    7.  If my student only owes 45 minutes make-up time, why are they required to stay the full two hours?

Recovery time is only offered in 2 hour (4 hour on Saturday) sessions.  Therefore, students must stay the full time in order to receive credit for attending.  Students can, however, bank their time if there is a future absence.

    8. My student is not currently in attendance violation.  Can they attend recovery sessions and bank their time?

YES- We strongly encourage students to plan in advance.

    9.  Is my student required to bring anything with them to their recovery session?

YES- There is a form that can be picked up in either the front office or the Control Room.  Each of their teachers will list any make-up work that they must complete and sign the form.  This form must be brought with them to the session.  Students must also bring any neccessary supplies to complete their work.

    10.  What if my student can not stay after school to complete recovery time?

We have 5 Saturday Schools (each lasting 4 hours) in which students can attend & make-up their time.

    11.  What is the procedure for attendance at the recovery time sessions?

Students are required to sign in when they arrive to the cafeteria.  Students are also required to sign in when they break out into their assigned classrooms.  This ensures that the student stays for the entire session.
