Update 4/6/2020

All assignments will be due by the date posted in each teacher’s Google Classroom or Canvas.  At that time, we will be checking to see if weekly assignments are completed and we will be recording the following in PowerSchool:

  1. If the assignment is complete and submitted, we will mark "Collected" and a green checkmark will appear in the box for the assignment.
  2. If an assignment is missing or not turned in, we will mark it with an orange box identifying it is "MISSING" and there will be a blank.

Students will have until  Wednesday of the following week to complete and missing assignments from the previous week.

Update 3/26/2020

Beginning on March 30, students will have instruction provided online. I will be using Google Classroom to post videos and assignments. You may want to log into Google Classroom in the next couple of days so you can be sure everything is working well. There are currently no new assignments in Google Classroom, but there are a few announcements and some fun sites to visit that you may want to check out. If you are having trouble logging into Google Classroom, please send me an email.

3/30/2020

In an attempt to support students, teachers, and families, the Curriculum & Instruction Department has prepared supplemental learning opportunities that can be accessed on the Cabarrus County Schools website by selecting the "Extended Home Learning" icon.  At this time, school closure beyond 2 weeks would present a new situation.  The district does not have guidance at this time.  District leadership is working closely with state leaders and collaborating with other district leaders.  We are developing tentative local plans in the event of school closures beyond the next 2 weeks.

I am the ELA teacher for Team Fire. This is my 24th year teaching and I have been in Cabarrus County for 21 of those years. This is my 6th year at CC Griffin. I am excited to be teaching 6th grade again this year!

I grew up in Concord and attended Coltrane Webb Elementary School, Concord Middle and Concord High (go Spiders!). I graduated from Pfeiffer University (then Pfeiffer College) with a BA in Education in 1996.

My husband Scott and I live near Mt. Pleasant. Our daughter, Rebecca,  is a sophomore at Pfeiffer University.
