Attention students who attended TRY-OUTS last Thursday:
As of this moment, ALL of you have made the team.  However, between now and January, your coaches will be making decisions about Varsity and JV team formations.  12 students attended try-outs, but only 10 students may participate at the tournaments.  The most accomplished, dedicated, and fastest will earn the top spots.
We will have 2 practices every week:

TUESDAYS after school from 4 - 5:15 pm

WEDNESDAYS before school from 8:00 to 8:45 am

    Hickory Ridge Brainiacs!!

If you have a STRONG command of your academic subjects, a passion for popular culture, and a love for trivial pursuit...PLEASE put your smarty pants on and join the Hickory Ridge National Academic Quiz Bowl Team.  Your coaches this year are Ms. Raines in 8th grade and Ms. Valentine in 7th.   Quiz Bowl is open to all grade levels.  Please be aware that Quiz Bowl is a once a week after-school commitment, and we will compete against other schools in at least two Saturday tournaments beginning in January.  You must provide your own transportation for these events.   Please contact Mrs. Raines by email if you have any questions.

When we travel to tournaments, we will need:
*Volunteers - All schools are required to provide one adult volunteer per participating team. Schools failing to provide a volunteer will forfeit their matches until a volunteer is provided. Please show respect to your fellow schools by training this volunteer prior to the tournament. The volunteer should arrive prepared to read or keep score. Training will not be provided on site. ALSO make sure readers know to read packets in the order they are presented in the envelopes. Readers should ask if they have doubts about the order in which packets should be read.
