Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Gerard (GT) Curtis

I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana but relocated to North Carolina as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Prior to H. Katrina I received my Bachelors from the University of New Orleans (LSU), majoring in Spanish and Paralegal Studies and later I received my Masters in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction & E.S.L. also from L.S.U.

I began my professional career in the legal field as a Paralegal but I found my true passion in 2007 when I decided to "give back to society" by becoming a high school Spanish teacher in 2007.

Since I began teaching I have been honored as the 2012 Rocky River (CMS) High School "Teacher of the Year"; the 2011 Mecklenburg County “Mentor of the Year” Finalist; 2010/2011 & 2011/ 2012 Member of the #1 Intervention Team for “At Risk” students in C.M.S. Eastern District; the 2010 C.M.S. “I-Meck 4A Boys Conference Champions” Sprint Track Coach, 3-times nominated for "Teacher of the Year" at Cox Mill High School, as well as multiple "Teacher of the Month" awards.  My greatest honor as a teacher, however was in 2019 when the senior class of Cox MIll High School dedicated its year book to me as the "Most Inspirational" teacher of that year.

I have taught every level of Spanish.   I have also taught as a Homebound Teacher, Early College High School Spanish teacher and as a N.C. Virtual Public Schools’ mentor.

Additional accomplishments:   Published Author of the book “Random Wisdom for the Fatherless Child;” American Bar Association Certified Paralegal; Certified E-Discovery Project Manager.
