Please do not turn-in paperwork to the front office.

Tryouts for spring sports (baseball, volleyball, girls soccer, boys soccer, girls track & field, and boys track & field) will start on Fri March 2nd and continue into the next week.  Please contact the head coach of the team with any questions.  Student-athletes must be eligible and all athletic paperwork must be turned in prior to trying out.  Eligibility questions can be answered below.
Eligibility : What if my child did not pass enough classes or missed too many days to participate?
Eligibility for 7th and 8th graders for the second semester through the end of the year is based on the first semester of the 2017-2018 school year (August 28th through January 24th).  Academically, a student must pass 3-of-4 core classes the previous semester and be promoted to be eligible. For attendance, a student in Cabarrus County must not have missed more than 13 days of school the previous semester. Eligibility in those two areas will be determined once tryouts begin. A student who tries out for a team may later find out they are ineligible once grades and attendance are certified. To avoid this situation, if you feel your child may be in danger of either threshold, please contact immediately.

Paperwork Turn-In Procedures - During the School Year - Between 8/28/17-4/1/18
Do not turn paperwork into the front office.  Please have your child turn-in all paperwork to Ms. Tyson in the media center.
The athletic participation packet (see below) MUST be filled out completely prior to trying out for any team or participating in any offered out of season skill development at Hickory Ridge MS.  This packet must be turned in by the student to Ms. Tyson in the media center on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday from 12-2 during your child's lunch.  This must be done prior to the start of try outs or any skill developments.  Incomplete packets will not be accepted as all paperwork needs to be turned in at the same time.

Students who have previously tried out or played for a team at Hickory Ridge MS during the '17-'18 school year DO NOT have to turn in a new packet.  Please communicate to the coach of the next sport your child is trying out for their desire to try out for that sport.  However, physicals MUST still be good (within the last 365 days) for them to tryout.

2017-2018 Hickory Ridge MS Athletic Participation Packet  -  Please fill out this packet if your child is a 7th or 8th Grade student and is enrolled at Hickory Ridge MS
2017-2018 JN Fries MS Athletic Participation Packet - Please fill out this packet if your child is a 7th or 8th Grade student enrolled at J.N. Fries Magnet School, your home school is Hickory Ridge MS, and you child is interested in participating in athletics at Hickory Ridge MS.
