Who is super excited about the 2017-18 school would be this ELA teacher!
I am going into my sixth year here at Opportunity Middle and I am looking forward to experienceing all things reading and writing with all of the 6, 7 and 8 graders who become a part of our family. I love exposing students to a infinite world via books and letting them tap into thier unknown selves through writing.
I received my undergraduate from Appalachian State University and in another year I will have my Master's in Reading from UNCC. I am married to a fifth grade math teacher and our 13 year old attends Winkler Middle School while our olderst is in her third year at UNCG.

  • This year in ELA students will get to explore the wonderful world of reading and writing using the Reader's Writer's Workshop model.  Using short stories, novels, poetry, autobiographies, biographies and informational text students will be exposed to a wide variety of literature.  Students will also be expected to respond to text by writing about it and creating their own literary pieces using the writing process.

Students will also be expected to spend time doing at least 3 lessons a week on i-Ready.
