Mr. Michael Rowe
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! This will be my 17th year at my home school Coltrane-Webb and 28th year overall as a music teacher. I am also returning to R. Brown McAllister to resume teaching music for the 9th year. I taught my first year in Gainesville, FL at the middle school level, then moved to Charlotte and taught in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for 10 years. I just finished my 16th year in the greatest county... Cabarrus! I am very excited to be back as the general music teacher this year. I will also be between 2 schools, so if you need to reach me, the best way is to send me an email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
A few things about me: I have been married to my wife (and fellow musician) Terese for 23+ years and we have a son named Jesse age 13 who is in 8th grade this year. We have 2 young cats- a brother and sister named Jack and Evey. They are Gray Mackerel Tabbies. I love to run and have competed in 51 official races to date (Coronavirus has cut way down on this activity..) I also recently have grown to love road cycling. I love to read, usually eBooks using my phone (convenient!) or the Kindle Paperwhite my Mom bought me for Christmas years ago. I love to fix things- especially older things. I have many tools and I use most of them during projects. We live in an actual log cabin built in 1947, so I get to fix things all the time! I sing for a church in Charlotte on the weekends where my wife is music director, and most of my singing is in latin!
*I look forward to teaching all students K-5 in a challenging time with distance learning. I have worked to make music fun and engaging for the students- even as we are compelled to go to an online system for the health of students, teachers, and families at home to consider. Be sure to ask you child what they've learned in music through Canvas! Hopefully very soon we will be able to resume face-to-face lessons and perform concerts to show what we are learning! *new since March 2020 and continuing into the 2020-2021 school year
