Welcome Parents/Guardians to JNFMS and to our Classroom! I am thrilled that I get the honor of being your child's Homeroom/ELA/SS teacher here at JN Fries STEM Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year. We have an amazing year ahead of us!
A little bit of background on me...I grew up in Chapel Hill, NC with my parents and 2 younger brothers. In 1994, I graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in English. After graduation, I moved to Charlotte and went on to teach 4th and 5th grades in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System for the next 6 years. In the summer of 2000, I married my husband and started in the Masters of School Administration program at UNC-Charlotte. I graduated in 2002 and went on to be an Assistant Principal of Instruction at Irvin Elementary for two and a half years. In 2003, my son was born and I was lucky to be able to stay at home with him for a year. In early 2005, we moved to the Concord area and I began working at R. Brown McAllister Elementary, first as a 4th grade teacher and then as the API for the next year and a half. In 2006, my daughter was born and I stayed at home with her until she started Kindergarten at Coltrane-Webb where I also had the honor of teaching for 7 years. This is my 2nd year of teaching at JN Fries and my 18th year of being in education altogether.
Since my daughter, who is in 7th grade, attends school with me, I am both a parent and a teacher and there is no better place than JN Fries and being a Noble Knight! I am very much looking forward to the upcoming school year of working with you and your child!
