Have a Great Summer!!

Thank you all for working hard as we transitioned into an unimaginable school environment for these past weeks.  As we end this school year and look to our next year beginning, we are not sure what our "new normal" may be.   As we head into the new school year, please listen for information from Cabarrus County Schools and CCGMS for updates and changes as they are made available.  As of now, students will return to school on August 17, 2020.

To stay prepared to be successful as we head back to school in August, I encourage all of my students to continue to read daily.  For those of you who enjoy competition for motivation, I have listed information in Google Classroom under this week about the Summer Reading opportunity sponsored by the Cabarrus County Library.  This program can be shared by the entire family.  It also includes information about checking out and returning library books and their hours of operation for each location/branch.   If there are questions, the phone numbers are also included that you can contact the specialists for more information.

I have been teaching language arts for a number of years.  I am a native of Cabarrus County so I completed all of my education in the Cabarrus County school system graduating from Central Cabarrus.  I also graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.  Go Mountaineers!!  My family and I live in Cabarrus County so we are very familiar with the community.  I hope that you will find a love for reading that perhaps you have not experienced until now, or that you will continue to cultivate your passion and share that love with your fellow classmates this year.  We will have a great time learning and growing together.

Please remember that we are paperless for progress reports and report cards so please log into Parent Portal to check on your child's grades on a regular basis.  The students are asked and reminded to check grades daily.  Also, we have 3-day recovery policy for work turned in past the due date.  Students may have a working lunch, come in for morning tutoring in Ms. Koch's room with a pass or complete the missing work for homework.  Also, students have 3 days to make up work from absences or they will fall into the recovery option.

After the recovery time has passed, the work cannot be turned in resulting in a zero.
