Mrs. Kimberly Stiffel

Welcome to Mrs. Stiffel's Virtual Office

Hello!  My name is Kimberly Stiffel and this is my 10th year at Cox Mill Elementary, and my 18th year as a school counselor in Cabarrus County Schools. I am thrilled to be working in such a wonderful school and a positive school community!  I graduated from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (K-8) in 1997 and a Master's Degree in School Counseling (K-12) in 2001.  Prior to working as a school counselor, I was a 7th grade Language Arts teacher and a 5th grade teacher.  I also earned my National Board certification in 2005.

I currently serve students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. While my role may look quite different during this year's virtual learning, I will continue to provide support through SEL (social-emotional learning) and individual and small group counseling and student check-ins. Under Plan C, students will receive an SEL mini-lesson each Monday that will center around one of five essentail skills - Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Responsilbe Decision-Making, Social Awareness, and Relationship Skills. Students will also complete a brief self-reflection on Thursdays to let teachers and supprot staff be aware of any challenges they may be facing.

In addition to teaching mini-lessons, I am also available for individual and small group counseling.  Our student support staff work on a short-term basis to address any emotional, personal/social, and/or academic concerns.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child's academic and/or emotional development.
