WAR EAGLE!! Born and raised in Alabama, I am proud to have graduated from Auburn University where I received my Early Elementary degree. My first seven years of teaching were spent in Georgia working with K-2 students in reading.
I moved to North Carolina in 2002 and started at Cox Mill that August which is the year it opened! I taught third grade at CMES for eight years. During that time I earned my Master's Degree from UNCC. This will be my eleventh year in fourth grade and my 26th year teaching! There is nothing else I'd rather do!!
Family is everything to me! My parents finally made the move to NC in 2017 to join my sister and I here. My sister is a substitute teacher so many of the students know her too. I also have two amazing nephews. My nephew, Sam, is in seventh grade at Harris Road. He is on the football team (Go Patriots!) and was inducted to Beta Club last year. When he's not practicing football or doing homework, he is usually gaming online with his friends! My other nephew, Elijah, is an angel in heaven. Elijah passed away in 2015 at the age of 10 from a rare type of cancer, Epithelioid Sarcoma. The Prayers for Elijah Foundation was started by him before he passed away. We are working to try and find a cure for this deadly disease so other children and families don't have to suffer what Elijah did. Elijah and Sam are my world!!!
I am so excited to begin another year and I am looking forward to a fantastic school year with your children!!
