Be a Part of History: Contribute to the Covid-19 Collection at the MP Museum

  • The museum in MP is collecting artifacts from eastern Cabarrus County related to COVID-19. Photos, documentation of how business and life is happening differently, items like masks, take out menus, gas receipts, obituaries of MP area folks stating due to the virus there are funeral changes, etc. are being collected.

They're also looking for artifacts, lessons, photos of educators' home offices, students' narratives and/or photos of how the virus affected education, school, and what students did during this time to stave off boredom and deal with the huge change in life. For example, a student painted a wall in her bedroom with designs and sent the photo with a description of it and why she did it.

They are very interested in hearing from students, especially seniors, about how the pandemic affected life, school, and work. Be a part of history!

Below is a flyer from the museum; refer to it for contact information, or you can share your artifact with me, and I will make sure it gets to the right people.

Mrs. Darcey Tomasino

I have been teaching for a little over 20 years, most of which have been here at Mt. Pleasant High School. I love reading, swimming, baking, cooking, gardening, and practicing yoga. I was born and raised in upstate New York, but I have been in North Carolina for 20 years. My husband and I do not have any human children of our own. (I like to think that I help to raise other people's kids.) I do have fur babies who keep me company and give me unconditional love :).

Classroom Expectations

    1. Be READY to work when the bell rings each day.  This means that before the bell, you turn off your cell phone and put it away, and you have your textbook, journal, daybook and any work that is due on your desk.
    2. Be RESPONSIBLE for your own actions and decisions. Know that what you do, or refuse to do, can affect everyone in the room, whether it’s sleeping, talking, or not participating.
    3. Be RESPECTFUL to yourself, to your peers, and to me. To be respected, you must show respect. This means being aware of others’ needs, not just your own.
