Ashley Pethel

Hello! My name is Ashley Pethel. I have been teaching at MPHS since January 2005 and absolutely love it here. I am married to my amazing husband, Matt Pethel, and have two wonderful children, Brandon and Leah. They are my pride and joy! I graduated from Gardner-Webb University in December 2004. I earned my National Board Certification in 2010. I am very excited for this new school year, introducing a new blended curriculum.
There have been changes in the Mathematics curriculum for the Math 1, 2, and 3 courses over the past several years. I am please with the new structure and looking forward to incorporating the curriculum with collaborative, problem based learning that challenge the students to dive into the new curriculum.
I will be using the online learning managment systems called Canvas for my courses this year.  Please visit my Canvas page by clicking on the Canvas icon on the schools website for Access to the Course Calendar and Course Documents.  You will need an account and access code (available for both students and parents).  Please email me at for the course access code.
I will not be using the Canvas grade book feature, due to all quiz/assessments are partially multiple choice (on-line) and constructed repsonse (in-class).  Student unit grades can be viewed using the parent portal at the end of each unit. I also encourage you to ask your student to see their Unit organizer to monitor homework and/or projects throughout each unit.  If you do not receive your log-in information for Power School it can be requested by calling MPHS during regular school hours.
