Mrs. Vickers - Second Grade

Welcome to second grade!  I have been a member of the Rocky River family for 17 years.  I am very excited to be on the second grade team. This will be my first year in second grade as a DUAL language teacher.  Over the years I have taught third and first grade.    I have implemented the David Fitts Horticultural Garden in the Media Center Courtyard.  This garden would not exist without the financial assistance from the REACH Grant and the CCEF Grants.  In addition, the students have played a major role in the creation of the garden.  Students have built the beds, planted, cared, and harvested the crops.  Please visit the Horticultural Garden webpage on my site to view pictures.  I do plan on incorporating the garden into the second grade curriculum.  As many students have learned, I am a Mickey Mouse fanatic and I believe in the advice of Walt Disney when he said, "Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children."

Things to remember...

    • If your child is purchasing an extra from the cafeteria, please make sure the money is placed in a baggie labeled "EXTRA" vs "CAFETERIA".  This differentiation will help avoid having money that should be placed on the account used for an extra treat item.
    • If eating lunch with your student, please refer to the procedure changes from years past in the RRES Handbook.
    • Send in Box Tops to help the school.
    • After an absence, a written note is required explaining the reason for the absence.
    • Make sure your student is wearing sneakers on Fit Lab and PE days.
