Mr. Steven Mitchem

My name is Steven Mitchem. When I finished college at ECU, I went to work for Coffee and Thompson Gallery’s in Charlotte NC. Seven years later I went back to UNCC to earn my teaching license and I have been teaching art since 1993. I have my Masters in fine arts education from ECU.
 
My whole life has been centered on art, teaching, and always creating.  I teach and practice art showing in galleries, government commissions, corporate and private collections.  I have the belief that art teachers need to be an active artist no on sitting on the side line.

Living in the town I grew up in has been a wonderful experience, but travel has been a favorite pastime of my wife, son and me. We love to see and experience new things and people, but with the benefit of raising our son in a hometown with family around.

 

I also love the outdoors; I am a scout master and often go backpacking, climbing fly fishing and shooting sports.
